CONFERENCE REMITS

Messrs. R. Watterson and L. F. Dawkins have been appointed to represent Wellington at the harrier conference, at which the following remits will be discussed:—

By the Canterbury Centre: (1) That full control of cross-country running in New Zealand be vested in a New Zealand cross-country executive to bo elected each year by the conference of cross-country delegates; (2) that subcommittees be appointed in each centre to control cross-country running, under this executive; (3) that affiliation fees paid to centres and the New Zealand Council by harrier clubs be paid in future to these sub-committees to be administered by them under the New Zealand executive; (4) that mixed athletic and cross-country clubs pay their affiliation fees to their centres and sub-committees in proportion to their track and cross-country membership—(a) that registration fees paid by harriers go to the sub-committee, (b) that registration fees paid by runners competing on both track and cross-country be paid half to the centre and half to the sub-committee; (5) that the cross-country executive so appointed pay to the New Zealand A.A. Council yearly the sum of five guineas towards administration expenses.

By the Wellington Centre: (1) That a sub-committee be set up to draft a constitution for a federated body having full power of control and management of the harrier movement, such body to be affiliated to the N.Z.A.A.A.; <2) that the rules of .the N.Z.A.A.A. be amended to provide that in whatever centre the New Zealand crosscountry championships are held one of the delegates for that district on the council of the N.Z.A.A.A. shall, when convenient, represent the council at the harrier conference; (3) that this centre make application to run the Marathon race in Wellington during . the 1935-36 season, failing Otago being agreeable to fun it in conjunction with the New Zealand track championships; (4) that in, view of the undertaking given by" deleg'agtes of the West Coast North Island centre at last annual harrier conference, that centre be called upon to explain .theomission to hold the marathon race in conjunction with the New Zealand track championships.

By the .Auckland Centre: (1) That in order to ensure the sending of harrier teams overseas at short regular periods, all harriers be asked to contribute a special harrier registration fee to be held in a special, fund by the N.Z.A.A.A. for the above purpose. Thus harriers will pay: one fee, during the season, while athletes w.ho compete / during the summer and winter seasons will be expected to pay .two; (2) that in futures New Zealand crosscountry championship courses 'be chosen that will allow the procuring of a "gate."

By the Otago Centre: (1) That the date of the New Zealand cross-country championships be altered and that the race be held on a convenient Saturday in July of each year.
