HEALTH AND PENSIONS

SAFEGUARDING MEASURE

BILL IN THE COMMONS

(British Official Wireless.)

RUGBY, June 6.

Sir Hilton Young, Minister of Health, moved the second reading of the National Health Insurance and Contributory Pensions Bill.

The object of the measure is to ensure that persons who have paid contributions for ten years shall not, through unemployment, forfeit their pensions rights or lose their sick disablement and maternity benefits.

It also exempts from payment of arrears those persons who, in consequence of being out of work, have not been able to keep up their contributions.
