DIAMOND BACK MOTH

PARASITE WANTED

The increase of the diamond back moth in New Zealand was referred to at the recent meeting of the Dominion executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, it being stated that the moth was likely to become a serious pest in places. A remit was passed asking the Government to assist in securing parasites to check its spread. In reply to the executive's request, the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. C. E. Macmillan) states': "I have to advise that arrangements are being made with the Imperial Entomological Institute to carry out investigational work in the Northern Hemisphere to ascertain what parasites of this moth are likely to prove effective in New ZeaI land. This work will require at least one year's investigation before a decision can be reached as to whether or. not importations are warranted." ,
