ALONG THE ROAD

"Yesterday afternoon" I went to the cross-roads past Karori Park and on the arms it said Makara Bay 9 miles, pointed to South Karori Road. The Wellington 5 miles, and trfe1 other hills were bedecked with the golden glory of the gone; the braying of a donkey was heard, and on looking I discerned it standing on a'lonely knoll by a straggling farm-house, surrounded by mooing cows and barking dogs. On, oayre trampedstill we came to an old farm lying back from the road, and on the porch sat a family of six watching us on our way.
