Stewart, and Maurice O'Connor; - Invitations ; .to what premises Jo be tee'spcial event of the year are now being issued; The ball is in aid of the lSt Vincent: de Paul Society, every penny raised being devoted to the relief of distress. The organisers report that already "indications point to a: great success. A brisk demand has- set in for .dance tickets at the same price as last'year. As previously the gallery-' -will ise open to View the dancing and the spectacular ceremony of the presentation of debutantes to Archbishop ' O'Shea. This year the grand organ Will tie utilised during the ceremony. Ah original and effective note will be struck in the decorative scheme evolved by Miss Alice A. Gray. The hall-will Tje transformed into an Oriental scene, many' bjtossoms and lanterns being used effectivelyThese are being made by a large band of ladies. For some time committees in all parts of the city and suburbs have been busy preparing for the ball, and no effort is being spared to achieve success, as money is badly needed to carry on the society's work to relieve distress in Wellington.
