BUTTER FIRM, CHEESE QUIET
The market for New Zealand butter in London is firm, according to the weekly, cabled report received today by the. Dairy Produce Board, and wholesale, prices show an increase of 2s a cwt- fbr the week. The cheese market is quiet, with prices unchanged. Wholesale quotations for butter are: —New Zealand, salted, 83s a cwt, and up,' to 84s for exceptional quality <Whiph' equals approximately 9.59 d a lb,. f.0.b.); unsalted, 81s to 83s; Australian, 82s; Danish, spot, 98s (market steady). Wholesale prices for cheese are:— New Zealand, white and coloured, 43s to 43s 6d a cwt (which equals approximately 4.53 d a lb, f.0.b.); Australian, 425; Canadian, 62s to 645; finest. English farmers', 82s to 90s. The board has also received the following advice .from its agents in Canada:—Btftter, New York, 25.1 cents a lbj Montreal, 201 cents. A. J. Mills-.and Co., Ltd., have received cabled advice from London, dated June 6, giving the following market prices as ruling at the close of business on Thursday:—Butter: The market is firm; New Zealand, finest 83s a cwt, firsts 81s to 82s; Australian, choicest 81s to 82s, first grade 78s to 795; Danish, spot 98s, f.o.b. 765. Cheese: ■ The market is quiet. New Zealand, white 43s to 43s 6d a cwt, coloured 43s 6d to 445; Canadian, white 60s to 625, coloured 58s to 60s. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., advise having received today cable advice from J. and J; Lonsdale and Co. (London), Ltd., as follows:—Butter, market firm. New Zealand, o3s to 84s; Australian, ,82s; Danish, market steady, 76s f.oK,' 97s landed. "Cheese, market steadier. White, 435; coloured, 43s 6d. Joseph Nathan and Co., Ltd., have received, from Trengrouse and Nathan, Ltd., London, the following cabled advice, dated' June 6:—New Zealand butter,. 83s to 84s;, firm. New" Zealand cheese, white and coloured, 43s 6d; firm. '.''•'■ MINIMUM EXPORT PRICES. The minimum f.o.b. prices have been fixed-,by the Dairy Board until further notice, at .10d a lb for butter and 5d for cheese.
