CITY ELECTION INQUIRY

The inquiry into the City Council election will open on Tuesday. It is pointed out that a wrong impression has been gained as regards the suggestion that the inquiry should be adjourned until a later date to suit the convenience of Mr. P. J. O'Regan, who 'is presenting the case for the petitioners. The suggestion that an adjournment would be opposed is not correct, the respondents state. From the point of view of counsel for the respondents, Messrs. K. K. Scott and P, B. Cooke, the question of an adjournment is dependent upon the Court's interpretation of the Act, which provides that the inquiry must be commenced within definite time limits. Provided that the Act is not contravened, no objection to a request for an adjournment will be made.
