LONDON, May 30.

The Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. J. H. Thomas, replying to the toast of the Dominions at the Hoteliers' Banquet at the Guildhall, said the Government called a1 council of all Dominion Prime Ministers a week ago and it said: "These are the facts; this is our policy. What have you, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and you, the Irish Free Stale, got to say?"

The representative of Mr. de Valera, Irish Free State, got up and said: "You can proclaim to the world that although there are internal difficulties at the moment the Irish Free State will never be made the gateway for an attack on England."

Mr. Thomas added that similar declarations received from Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa collectively were the best evidence of the manner in which the Empire was resolved to co-operate in maintaining unity.
