FINE WEATHER

TEMPERATURES MILD

Special forecast for Wellington:— Light and variable winds, with southerlies prevailing1 -at first. Weather fine, with cold night

temperatures.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today, is for light to moderate winds generally. Southerlies will prevail north of New Plymouth and Napier, elsewhere variable, but westerlies to northerlies ruling and later freshening somewhat. The weather will be fair and fine generally, with cold nights but mild day temperatures. Some isolated showers in the Auckland Province are probable, and later on the west coast of the South Island.

The anticyclone which yesterday was located over the northern Tasman Sea has extended southwards, and since last night the pressure has risen over the Dominion. Consequently winds which yesterday were strong, have decreased in force, and this morning there was a light southerly in places. Rain fell yesterday in western districts 1 from Kawhia southwards, but elsewhere conditions were fair to fine, [and this morning fine weather was general. Temperatures have been mild and pleasant.

At Auckland yesterday the weather was calm and foggy in the morning, but the fog dispersed in the afternoon, a light south-east wind springing ,up. This morning the weather was fine and clear with a south-west breeze.

Though at times cloudy, the weather was fair and mild in Wellington yesterday, with a moderate to fresh northerly wind. The wind decreased early this" morning, and by 9 a.m. the weather was calm and fine. ;

Christchurch had a mild sunny day yesterday with little wind. The night was cold, a light frost being recorded. This morning was fine with a light westerly breeze.

In Dunedin there was sun in the early morning yesterday, but most of the day was cloudy, with a light northerly breeze. At 9 a.m. today Ihe weather was fine, and a light southei-ly was blowing,
