RECHABITE CENTENARY
In August the centenary of the Independent Order of Rechabites will be celebrated throughout the Empire, and to prepare for a fitting celebration of the occasion in Wellington a combined meeting of the Wellington and Hutt Valley Tents, arranged by the Wellington Provincial Council, was held in the Rechabite Chambers this week. The executive officers of the New, Zealand Central District were also present by invitation. P.P.C.R. Bro. F. G. Johnson welcomed the district officers and members and outlined the purpose of the meeting. The secretary of the Centenary Committee, Sis. Johnson, reported that to mark the centenary year a recruiting campaign for new members was to be launched. The Wellington Provincial Council proposed to hold various functions, a church parade, an installation and initiation ceremony, and a banquet. The juvenile lodges would also be entertained. Other speakers included the District. Chief Ruler, Bro. F. Davis, and Past D.C.R. Bro. B. H. Bascand, who touched on the celebrations to be held in England. Supper was served by the members of the Hope of Wellington Tent.
