REMITS FOR CONFERENCE

(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N.; May 30. The Manawatu-Rangitikei district council of the New Zealand Poultry Producers' Federation is forwarding the following remits to the Dominion conference to be held in Wellington on June 25 and 26:— I "That the Government include fowls in the stock census each year." "That the Poultry Board establish a uniform grading system for egg weights, and that merchants be requested to comply with such standard." "That regret be expressed that the' Government has taken no action with regard to the compulsory stamping of, 'chilled' eggs." "That the Poultry Board press for a minimum quality in poultry foods with, a view to having them brought into line with the Stock Foods Act." "That the Poultry Board cannot; function properly unless all people'who sell eggs are registered under the Act and all eggs are stamped with a registered number." "That in respect of the wheat duty remission, South Island wheat for the North Island should be reduced 6d per .bushel, failing any other relief from high wheat prices in the North Island." "That as eggs are sold under cost of production during the flush of the season, the Poultry Board be asked to greatly increase the quantity exported." "That in view of the many powerful. interests arrayed around the . poultry producer, it be a strict rule that only' poultry producers be eligible for membership in the federation." That while wheat prices remain so high in the North Island, the board endeavour to promote a scheme to assist New Zealand poultry farmers, even to paying a subsidy on wheat shipped to the North Island, instead of the sliding scale on imported wheat."
