POSITION UNCERTAIN

WRESTLING IMPORTATIONS

Very little information of any value is available ■ regarding the prospects of more wrestlers coming to New Zealand for this season. Dan Koloff, who was in charge of the men here last year, and who was genuinely credited with making a mess of the season, is now no longer in California. His partner, Jack Ganson, has taken on the business on the West Coast, . while Koloff is again seeking fortune on the European continent. Ted Thye, who is partnered by Virgil Hamlin, is reported to be arranging for a team to work both New Zealand and Australia. Some speculation is made regarding the operations of Walter Miller, and it is suggested that he has entered the promoting field. Certain it is that he had something to do with Earl McCready's visit. It is even suggested that Miller is working with Ted Thye, and that between them they are responsible for the statements in Sydney papers that some half-dozen topnotchers are booked to come south. Names of other promoters in the States, Bowser Haft, Marsh, and even Jack Curley have been mentioned in some Australian papers. INVASION NOT LIKELY. It is, however, not at all likely that there is to be a big invasion. Conditions both in New Zealand and in Australia are definitely very poor, perhaps more so across the Tasman than here. Nor it is at all likely that there is to be competition between some of the promoters named. Amongst the names listed for departure from the States are those of Ray Steel, Paul Jones, Casey Colombo, Jack Singh, Hans Kampfer, Jim Browning, and John Pesek. These, with Miller and McCready, would make a formidable list.' The question, however, is first, are they coming, and, second, are they likely to work in New Zealand?
