WINNING THROUGH
To walk eight miles* swim a flooded, river, and then play an excellent game in a Rugby trial match which gained him a place as wing-three-quarter in Taranaki's representative team, was the performance recently of Nigel Hunter. Hunter was staying at a farm in Tangahoe Valley. The torrential rains caused a flood in the Tangahoe Eiver which washed away a temporary bridge erected after the February floods. Hunter was not aware of this, and set out on the journey to Eltham. On reaching the river he found it in high flood and the bridge washed away. However, he was determined to play in the match, so he plunged into the river, safely crossed and completed the journey. The game he played proved, his stamina and ability, _ ' -»%
