STRONG FEILDING DEMAND

. Prices for fat lambs were again very firm, last week's record of. 27s being beaten today when a pen of heavywoolled lambs, very prime, fetched 28s. Several exporting. companies operated briskly, a highly satisfactory sale resulting. The keen buying of the past few weeks attracted a very large entry, totalling 10,000, including 5000 fat lambs. The pens of good-condi-tioned, well-woolled lambs raised the keenest bidding, and all venders were quite pleased. Prices for fat ewes and wethers were not so goodi partly owing to the lack of quality and finish. The store sheep market was.not. so interesting owing to the lack; of quality of the breeding ewes entered.. The demand for very good ewes was quite good, but few such were offered. Store larribs also showed that • there is a good market for good-conditioned lamb?, and those offered of this grade brought good figures.; ' ; ■ The cattle market was rather quiet j except for dairy stock, which are bringing quite good prices, the best of which being up about 10s a head on last week's rates. Sheep.—Fat lambs, very prime heavy woolled, 28s; prime woolly, 24s id to 25s 3d; very good, 24s Id to 24s 2d; average lines, 20s to 22s lid; lighter, 19s 7d to 19s sd; inferior lines, from 16s; prime fat ewes, 15s 3d to 16s; light prime, 13s 3d to 14s; unfinished sorts, from 7s 9d to 11s 3d; prime fat wethers, 235; very good skins, 22s to 22s 6d; ; fair average, 20s 5d to 21s 8d; unattractive pens, from 13s 6d. A LARGE ENTRY. The New Zealand Loan. and Mejs. cantile Agency Co., Ltd., report a large entry at Feilding yesterday. ■ There was a large yarding of fat sheep, and the competition was keen. Fat lambs showed a slight improvement. Ewes and wethers sold at par with last week's prices. There was also a big yarding of ewes of better quality than usual. Good sound-mouth ewes made 22s to 25s lid, good 5 and 6-year ewes, 18s to 20s 6d; medium two, four, and six-tooth ewes, 21s to 22s 8d Store wethers of good quality made 20s to 21s 9d. Lambs were easier by about is per head. Fat and run cattle sold on a par with late values.
