DR. KAGAWA
JAPANESE LEADER
VISIT TO WELLINGTON
The distinguished Japanese leader Dr. Toyohiko Kagawa arrived at Wellington thisafternoon from Palmerston North. He is a scholar, author, social reformer, teacher, and evangelist, and has been referred to as the greatest saint and the greatest statesman in the Far East today. During his visit to Wellington Dr. Kagawa is to speak at a number of gatherings.
LOCAL ARRANGEMENTS.
The Wellington Christian Youth Council and Y.M.C.A. have arranged a rally of youth to be held in the Town Hall tomorrow at 3 p.m., preceded by an organ recital by 'Mr. H. Temple White at 2.45 p.m. A musical programme will be contributed to by Misses Edna Parton and Joy Sutherland, and Messrs. H. Temple White and H. P. Gardiner. Mrs. Craig McKenzic (Miss Mary Cooley) will read the lesson, and devotions will be conducted by the Hev. W. Bullock and the Key. F. Wilkinson. Mr. M. A. Tremewan, president of the council, and Mr. L. J. Greenberg, general secretary of the Y.M.C.A., will be in charge of the organising arrangements. Various organisations are participating in the event, which all young men and young women are invited to attend.
In addition to the youth rally, Dr. Kagawa will speak at the following gatherings:—
Saturday, June 1.—3 p.m., representative group of S.C.M. leaders; 7-8.15 p.m., rally of boys, 'Y.M.C.A.; 8.40 p.m., broadcast, 2YA.
Sunday, June 2.—11 a.m., St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral; 7 p.m., St. John's Presbyterian Church.
.Monday, June 3.—2.15-4.15 p.m., conference, Bible class leaders and execu-. tives (all denominations); 8 p.m., public meeting, Lower Hutt, under combined auspices Hutt Christian Youth Council and Hutt Valley Y.M.C.A.
Tuesday, June 4.—12 noon, civic reception (broadcast); 3 p.m., reception by ministers of Wellington (all denominations), organised by Wellington Y.M.C.A. at the request of the Wellington Presbytery, the members of which will be hosts for the afternoon, in the Y.M.C.A. lounge, Willis Street; 6.15 p.m., Y.M.C.A. banquet in gymnasium.
Thursday, June 6.—1.5 p.m., Y.M.C.A. Optimists' Club; 3 p.m., reception by various women's organisations, organised by.the Y.W.C.A.; 5.30 p.m., tea. New Zealand Alliance.
