The Governor-General has received from ,Rear-Admiral Nakamura a message expressing thanks for the i warm hospitality received by the Japanese naval training'squadron in New Zealand. He wishes prosperity ■; to, the Dominion and even, closer ' friendly 'relations between Japan and ' New Zealand. His Excellency has replied saying that the squadron's visit was welcome to1 the people of New Zealand as affording them an opportunity of giving ■ expression to the cordial feelings of friendship which; they entertain towards Japan and the Japanese. On behalf of the Government and .'the - people'he -wished 'the Admiral and his officers and men a pleasant, voyage and • a safe return. ' The two sons of the Princess Royal, Viscount Lascelles and the Hon. Gerald ' ' Lascelles, acted as drivers of a 10-ton miniature locomotive at an engine works at Leeds recently. Lord Lascelles named'" the engine "Princess Royal" by breaking a bottle of Empire wine over'it.
