A'fair number of hard knocks .were given, and leceived, the hard hitting that caused'loss of control being mainly, responsible., for these. Players in. both teams delivered wild swipes that sent the ball up and down the field without helping the game materially, and'on several occasions too much power behind centring strokes fepoiled good chances.

Much, of the best individual play was shown by the University'players, their front? line,being,particularly good in.'this direction, and ,with, better control of the ball and-better 'combination they would have been hard to beat. ' . , • '
