AUTUMN SHOW
ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
The autumn exhibition of the New,. Zealand. Academy of Fine Arts, Whitmore Street, was opened last night by;* Mr. T. C. A. Hislop.' The acting-pre-sident, Mr. J. M. Ellis, welcomed the Mayor on behalf of the Academy. Mr. Hislop probably expressed the thoughts--of all those present when he said that it was with mixed feelings that one realised that it was the last autumn show that would be held in Whitmore Street. ■ ' !
So many pleasant and interesting evenings have been spent within those walls and^yet it is gratifying to knowthat at last Wellington will have a fitting place, the National Art Gallery and Museum in. which the next autumn's exhibition will be shown. Many people missed the familiar figure of Miss D. K. Richmond, who for so many years took such an interest and played such a large part in iti work- . ■ - ■ ::■■..
