ROXY THEATRE.

MAYFAIR THEATRE, UPPER HUTT.

"Anne of Green Gables"' is being presented at the Roxy- Theatre. As a novel, ,L. Hi Montgomery's book has won world-wide recognition as a classic of childhood and early youth,' and the picture Jfalls into the, same high'classification. Anne Shirley, the sixteen-year-old «player who adopted the name of the character she portrays in the film, gives a superb performance as the orphan heroine. The hair-raising thrillers of the Pearl White and Helen Holmes era pale into insignificance when compared to the modern thriller of the rails, "The Silver Streak," the supporting feature. It shows a train going at an incredible speed, with the engineer at death grips in the cab. The relief from the thrills is the comedy provßled by an' able team of funny men.

"The Masquerader" will be screened tonight at the Mayf air Theatre, Upper Hutt. Ronald Colraan is considered to be at his best in this intriguing_6tory. "County Chairman," featuring Will .Rogers, will be shown on Wednesday.
