Amongst the many "omnibuses" one of the newest is "The First Class Omnibus," edited by Helen Gosse and published by Hodder and Stoughton. It contains a number of what may be called short long stories, some in a romantic vein, like Helen Ashton's "The Garden Next Door," some detective stories, like "Death in the Tankard," by G. D. H. and Margaret Cole, a typical country story by Sheila KayeSmith, and other tales by Storm Jameson, George A. Birmingham, G. B. Stern, Denis Mac Kail, and several other English writers; in all, 575 pages of good fiction,
