OLD WOMAN KILLED
RUN OVER BY MOTOR-TRUCK

AUCKLAND, May 10,
Shocking'injuries to the head which proved instantly fatal were received by a ■ widow,' Mrs.' • Jessie > Addis,1 aged 71, when she was run '■ over by- a motor-truck; in' the city.
Mrs. Addis* who "lived in PukekohK was visiting Auckland ■ for ■ the day. The: motor-truck,- ■ Which' emerged; from • Lower Commerce 'Street •to • cross Customs Street, 'was driven by L. J. Munro, of Onehunga.' Mrs. Addis was talking along Customs' Street in the ■direction of the railway station, and was crossing Lower Commerce Street when- she was' struck.
The accident was: witnessed. by - a newsboy from the opposite side of the street. He said that as Mrs. Addis was] crossing she dropped a bag she was carrying and; stopped' to pick it up. She was struck as-she started walking again. The front part of the truck struck: her, knocking her down. She fell partly beneath the truck. One of the twin rear wheels passed over her head, causing instant death.
