ACCIDENT ON STEAMER
COMPENSATION CLAIM FAILS
The Arbitration . Court yesterday heard a claim for compensation made, by Kenneth McLennan Stoddart, waterside worker, against the DuriedinWanganui Shipping Company, Ud. Mr. Justice Page presided, and' with him on the bench were Messrs. A. L. I Monteith (assessor for the employees) land W. Cecil Prime (assessor for the employers). Mr. F. W. Ongley appeared for the iplaintiff, and Mr. H. F. O'Leary for the defendant. On July 23, 1934, the plaintiff while in the employ of the shipping company, and ' working on the steamer Holmdale, fell between two casks and injured himself. He was totally in- | capacitated until December 23, 1934. The company paid him compensation up to September 23. He claimed a weekly payment of £2 18s 8d for total temporary incapacity for the period of incapacity computed into a lump sum.
For the defence, it was asserted that the plaintiff was not entitled to compensation after, September 10, 1934, as he was suffering from no further disability as a result of the accident Witnesses having been heard, ihis Honour said that the Court had come to the conclusion that the evidence adduced fell short of establishing a case.
Judgment was given for the defendant
