IMPERIAL AIRWAYS
A WELLINGTON PILOT
Some little time ago it .was reported by cablegram that an Imperial Airways liner had had to go to the aid of another of the fleet which had encountered trouble on a. section of the route between Egypt and India. One of the pilots of the aeroplane which lent assistance and picked up pas- | sengers and mails was Flying-Officer I. McNicol, of Wellington, who on leaving the Royal Air Force received an important post with Imperial Airways. With headquarters at Cairo, Fly-ing-Officer McNicol is one of the pilots on the section of the air mail route from Alexandria to Karachi. . Between each return trip a service to Kenya is also maintained. It is understood that Flying-Officer" McNicol is the third pil6t in the British Empire to be taken into the service of Imperial Airways, his record being a particularly fine one in that he has become fully qualified in every department of aviation.
