INJURED HAND
COMPENSATION CLAIM FAILS
Judgment was delivered by the Arbitration Court today in a case in which a claim was made for compensation under the Workers' Compensation for Accidents Act, by Patrick Dornan, a waterside worker, against the Wellington Harbour Board. The plaintiff alleged that while working for the Harbour Board, as a casual worker, on August 10, 1934, a truck fell off a stack and struck him, injuring his left hand and thumb, and incapacitating him for work. Compensation was paid up to August 22, 1934, but the board refused to make a further payment. Mr. Justice Page said the Court had come to the conclusion that the plaintiff had not established his right to compensation beyond the period for which he had already been paid; the claim must therefore fail. Judgment was given for the defendant, with costs. Mr. F. W. Ongley appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. W. P. Shorland for the Harbour Board. .
