CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. The annual report of the Canterbury Jockey Club states that during the 1934----35 season stakes were increased by £1875 and £3263 was written off as depreciation, so that the loss of £ 1727 shown in the balance-sheet was reasonable in the circumstances and would certainly have been less but for the unfavourable weather on the second day of the Autumn Meeting. The total expenditure was £46,378, raised by the amount written ' off to £49,041, and the income £47,914. Thp assets of the club are shown at £96,882 and the liabilities at £20,708.
