WAIKATO TROTS

PROSPECTS FOR TOMORROW

(Special to the "Evening Post.") AUCKLAND, This Day. With tho two days racing at Cambridge last weekend and most of the competitors there engaged at the Waikato Irotting Club's fixture at Claudelands tomorrow, the form has been welt exposed, but with a possibility oi heavier going there may be one or two surprises, especially as there are several new horses engaged. Betting will be. under the win and place system. There is a very big field in the opening event, the Improvers 5 Handicap, and with as many as 15 on the front line there will have to be two rows, unless there are quite a few withdrawals. The other event.; have not filled so liberally, but ;hey are of such dimensions as to make for interesting racing and spirited speculation. Of primary importance tomorrow is the )ig race, the Waikato Handicap, which has attracted eleven acceptors, with nothing left on the limit. Bingen Chief will doubtless be the hardest to beat, for at us last start at two miles he literally buried his opponents, this being at Epsom nearly three months back. There was considerable merit in that effort, and now off 24 yards he will be a difficult horse to beat. Some time ago Bingen Chief was anything but reliable at the barrier, and then after a spell of good work in this connection he lost his race at Cambridge last Monday through losing considerable ground, but for which Impr6mptu might never have beaten him. r.Am<l? g those to °PP°se Bingen Chief is b. J. Smith's charge, War Paint, and this pacer is also in the sprint event. There does not seem to be a great deal separating pacers like Francis Lincoln, Homeward, Jackie Thorpe, Lady Coronado (just about due for a return to form), Nimbus, Prince Pedro, and Willie Derby, and so the issue in the end may be fought out by those that have enjoyed the best passage. Impromptu is a long Way back, and if the course is really heavy be wil not appreciate his task. Bingen Chief is the horse that stands right out, and he has only to leave the mark correctly to give the opposition a lot to do. Of the ten left in the big spi-iut, the Dominion Handicap, all but,Kewpie's Guy figure in the two-mile event, bo the running earlier in the day may prove a good guide. The sole fresh horse is now overdue for.a win, and yet she may get her chance here. If not overdone in the twomile event, Francis Lincoln, War Paint, Bingeu Chief, Prince Pedro, and Nimbus would have to be given earnest consideration. Bingen Chief here also reads the pick of the field, but he may not run twice in the one day, for Success over two miles will result in his going back another twelve yards in the ehort race. The other races tomorrow will furnish plenty of interest, and the form will be closely watched in view of the next Waikato Meeting on June 1 and the Auckland trots three weeks later, when practically the same horses will compete. The form horses engaged tomorrow are the following:— Improvers' Handicap.—Bismuth, Great I Chum, Kia Kaha. Progressive Handicap.—-Great Admiral, Native Tree, Audo Patch, Waikato Handicap.—Bingen Chief, Nimbus, Francis Lincoln. Raglan Handicap.—Betterwin, Winaway, Lady Amanda, Waipa Handicap.—Bismuth, King's Play, Jean Parrisb. j Dominion Handicap.—Bingen Chief, War Paint, Nimbus. . !
