HASTINGS, This Day.

A young man named Cedric Woodfleld was killed by a shot from a gun accidentally, discharged ,in a whare at a house in Jervois Street last night

The deceased, who lived at 610 Queen Street, was at the time at the home of Arthur John Walker with two other young men. They [ were in the whare at about 9 p'jn., and had been discussing deer stalking, Walker having been out on April 21 last. It is evident that when his rifle was brought home it was left loaded. Another rifle was also in the room, and it appears that the two weapons were .being handled in the course.of what,may have been a little sky-larking. Walker pipked up a- rifle from the corner of the-room where it-had been, left, and while handling ,!it^- the weapon discharged, shooting : the deceased- through the head. '. .: "-.-. ; . . .
