FIGHTING DEPRESSION
NEW, DEAL DIFFICULTIES
BUSINESS MEN'S VIEWS
NEW YORK, May 2. President Roosevelt tonight deftly countered the Chamber of Commerce's criticism against his New Deal when he invited to the White House some thirty leading industrialists, who are members of the business Advisory Council of the Federal Department of Commerce, and won from them a pledge "to uphold his hand in the fight against, the depression."
Disagreeing with the stand taken by the Chamber of Comirierce of the united States, these business men, including Mr. Henry Harriman, retiring president of the chamber, specifically endorsed the two-year extension of the' N.R.A., in much the same form as recommended by the President, and also > approved the general principles at the! President's security legislation. '
