MAIDSTONE PARK
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l was interested in the account of a meeting of the Upper Hutt Borough Council concerning checking the roll and the, question of payment for which purpose the whole of the council have been called together three times within a few days. This appeared to me to be a matter of trifling importance as there are other matters that should receive attention, including drainage and street works.
Now that election-time is at hand a statement concerning Maidstohe Park might be issued; also the financial side dealt with in fair detail showing the annual loss and total to date (since council control commenced),;'including loss of rates from this property, assuming that the council does not pay rates on its own property or land that is leased. Particulars concerning No. 5 Scheme expenditure at the park would not be out of place. I should not be surprised if the loss on this venture exceeded £10,000 by now seeing that about £1500 was short one year.—l am, etc.,
INTERESTED.
