Swainson, tlie Grand Warden, presented to the lodge a very handsome Maori carved gavel for use by future presiding officers. Rose of Wellington Rebekah Lodge.—Sister E. Hope, N.G., presided over a good at tendance. Two candidates were nominated. A grant was made \to a Dominion appeal fdr a distressed brother. The audi tors' quarterly report was adopted. Statutory committees for the current half-year were elected. Sister M. Sergent, D.D.G.M , presented Sister I. McGregor with a P.N.G. collar on behalf of the lodge. A farewell was tendered to Sister Igguldsen, who is leaving on several months' tour of the Homeland. A kitchen tea for a sister about to be married and dancing completed the evening. Esther Rebekah Lodge.—Sister N. Sergent, N.G. presided. A grant was made to a Dominion appeal. The quarterly fiuancial statement was received. A vote of welcome was extended to visiting officers, who responded. ' Anniversary Church Service.—A large number of members of city and suburbau 1.0.0. F., N.Z., lodges attended service at the Church of Christ, Vivian Street, on Sunday evening, April 28, where the Rev. A. G. Saunders, a member of the order, delivered an appropriate sermon in ceiebralion of the 116 th anniversary of the founding of the order. Among those present were Bros. G. F. Rudkin. Grand Warden; F. J. Jones, Grand Chaplain; P. J. Lee, G.L. Rep.; H. A. Hardham R. 1. Mathers, D.D.G.M.; and Sisters M. Sereent, L.D.D.G.M., and E. Male-/, P.L.D.D.G.M. Onslow Lodge.—Bro. G. Farrelly, presided over a good attendance. , Committees were appointed. Bro. L. P. Curtis, on behalf oLthe D.D.G.M., presented the membership shield and gavel to the lodge, recently won for the half-year ending December, 1931, this beinp the 6econd occilion 'on which the lodge has held the shield since formation. <■ MANCHESTER UNITY ODDFELLOWS. Loyal Combination Lodge.—Sister J. Wilton presided in the absence of Bro. Davis and conducted the usual business before a fair attendance. The lecture master instructed Bros. Clark. Taylor, and Yates in the Scarlet and Gold Degrees Bro. Crawford's resignation, from the position of warden was accepted with regret, and Bro. W. A. B. Taylor was elected and. installed. Loyal Kilbirnie Lodge.—Bro. D. J. M. Brass presided over a large att«ndancs. There was a good representation preseot from Newtown Lodge. and Bro. T. G. Froude (Centenary Lodge, Otago), was also present. Lodge honours were accorded visitors. The following nominations for office on the Wellington District Hospital Association were received: —Vice-presdent, Bro. C. T. Wilson; trustees, Bros. Madeley, Jorgensen, and A. J. Williams; mauagement committee, Bro. Cull; auditors, Bros. Park and Bell. The lodge delegate reported on matters pertaining to the U.F.S. Dispensary. At the conclusion of the meeting the card contest between Newtown and Kilbirnie_ Lodges was played and resulted in a win for the visitora. Loyal Britannia Lodge.—Bro, Wickeaa presided over a large attendance. Bro. Brown was nominated for a seat on the management committee of the Hospital Association. Four new members were initiated and two proposals for member ship were received. Lodge honours were accorded Bro. J. M. McLeod, district secretary for the Auckland district, mention being made that the brother was the first Grand Master of the New Zealand branch of Manchester Unity Oddfellows. Bro. Hard, a Past District Grand Master of the Auckland district, was also accorded lodge honours. Bro.'McLeod gave an interesting address concerning the business transacted at the conference at Christchurch recently and also referred to ma» ters of interest that transpired at the international conference of Manchester Unity Oddfellows, which was held in London and at which he was present. Bro. .Brown was appointed , Degree Lecture Master. ORDER OF DRUIDS. Excelsior Lodge.—A.D. Bro. H J. Porter presided over' a large attendance. The bards reported on sick members and sick pay amounting to £34 7s, and accounts, was passed for payment. The^ Grand Secretary, Bro. Laughton, accompanied by the Grand Treasurer, Bro. Jlawhinney. and District President, Bro. Taylor, attended officially and were received with the honours of the order. Bro. H. «). Willis was installed as District President of No. 2 District by Bro. Taylor, the chairs being filled by Past District Presidents for the ceremony. A vote of thanks was. accorded the vißitore, including Bro. Laughton Bro. Mawhinney, Bro. Taylor, aud members of the Royal Arcli Chapter, Pacific, Coronation, Island Bay, Melrose, Mewburn, Pride of Brooklyn, and. Holly Lodges. After business had concluded v Bocial evening was held, the usual toasts being honoured, interspersed with musical items. Moera Lodge.—Members attended from Poneke (Petone), Star of New Zealand (Lower Hutt), Maungaroa (Upper Hutt) Podges, and also members1 from various lodges in Wellington. The Grand. Lodge was represented by the Grand Vice-presi-dent (Bro. A. L. Williams), Grand Secretary (Bro. J. Laughton), Grand Treasurer (Bro. Mawhinney), Grand Guardian (Bro. Abel), and members of the Eoyal Area Chapter. The Arch Druid welcomed the visitors and received them with the Druidie honours of the order. He then handed the gavel to the Royal Arch Druid (Bro. S. Hall), who. with the assistance of the offieerß of the chapter,, gave a demonstration of the initiation ceremony according to the new ritual. After the jodge was closed harmony was indulged in. The .Gough Ritual \Challenge Shield (which was again won by Moera Lodge for the third time ip succession) was presented. The 'outgoing District President of No. 14 District (Bro. S. Hall) installed his successor, Bro. E. Seagar. Bro. Hall was presented with a framed Pnst District President's diploma and a P.D.P. collar m recognition of the able manner in which he had carried out hiw duties. A Past Arch collar and diploma was also presented to Bro. Marryatt, of Maungaroa Lodge. The Hall gavels, won by the Star of New Zealand Lodge, were, presented by the donor (Bro. Hall). These gavels are competed for every six months and points allotted for the opening and closing lodico are also for general conduct during lodge meetings. Mewburn Lodge.—Bro. J. Standidge occupied the chair. Bro. G. Eeles was thanked for filling the secretary's chair.' The secretary (Bro. F. Lyall) gave a lengthy report on the recent Grand- Lodge delegates' sitting at Auckland. Bro. Eelua reported on the recent Hutt Valley v, Wellington Druids' cricket match, and Bro. F. E. Matthews reported on a recent visit to Excelsior Lodge.
