«_ IMPROVED RETURNS SOUNDS TRIP POPULAR Although detailed returns' of the Easter railway traffic are' not yet available the number of tickets sold at Lambton and Thorndon stations shows an increase over last year and a large inflow of returning holidaymakers is expected tonight and tomorrow. Bookings for the South Island by the steamer service have been heavy and the one-day trip to Picton today proved popular, the Rangatira being almost a full ship, taking 1600 passengers. Outgoing trains were well filled on Saturday and again this morning when many picnic parties went to the Hutt Valley and the west coast beaches for the day. Extra trains will bring back many of the travellers from further afield tonight and many more are expected to return tomorrow. A large number went by rail to the Ta'uherenikau races today and hundreds also left the city by road.
