GLADSTONE V. MIRAMAR
Representatives of the Gladstone (Wairarapa) Club gave a-good account o£ thdm'selves against Miramar in the main match'at Athletic Park/the visitors winning easily by 32 points to 14. Backs and forwards combined in turning on a display which was in marked contrast to that'given by Miramar,' though the local team's forwards endeavoured valiantly to turn ■ the tide. Gladstone had run up a big • tally before Miramar were able to open their account. The teams were:—
Gladstone.—Hemi; Mason, Broughton, S. I Henderson; E. Henderson,' Riri; Nunn; Cooper, .Walker, Day, Joblin, Hart, Ross,' Booth, Wyeth.
Miramar. —Algar; C. Parfitt, Reeves, Bridgen; Leeka, Wrigley; J. Parfitt; Ulenberg, Cooke, J. Codyre, Calcinai; Jack Codyre, Clarke, Millington, Minnock.
The Gladstone full-back, Hemi, who may bo' seen an the All Black trials, was the outstanding performer in the match. Ntran; - the Wairarapa and North Island half,'also showed up well- for the visitors, as "ditl .Riri, while Parfttt was conspicuous behind . the hard-working, Miramar forwards.- During the first.spell Hart scored two ties and Nunn and Mason one; each foij' Gladstone, Hemi • converting three. A'try went to Miramax's account from a strong loose rush. Inline Becond spell Walker, Riri, Mason, . and Broughton scored ,tries for the visitors, Hemi converting one. Calcinai, Parfitt, and Ulenberg. scored tries for Jliramar, Alga converting one. The final score was:—Gladstone 32, Mirainar 14. • • •
