BRIGHT INCIDENTS

An interesting series of happenings is recorded by "Divot" in the "Otago Daily Times." . It seems that A. H. Gamble holed his tee shot at the seventeenth when he and his partner in a fourball game against D. Swift and W. A. Mitson.were dornilc. Swift holed from outside the green and Mitsori sunk a short putt, also for a 2, but it was no use. Then a novice holed, in 2 at a 455-yard hole. But the cream of the occurrence is described as follows.—''While on tho subject of freak shots an unusual tee shot was performed at the eighteenth hole on Saturday, when a player drove his tee shot from the eighteenth tee and the ball finally .came to rest in his hands. The ball left the club with a pronounced hodk, went out of bounds, hit a telegraph post and rebounded back on to the course and would have hit the player if he had not caught the ball." There was some discussion as to what rule applied to this case."
