MUNICIPAL CONFERENCE

(Special to the "Evening Post.") NELSON, April 9. The. Mayor of Nelson (Mr. W. J. Moffatt) today endorsed the remarks of the Mayor of Lower Hutt .on.the manner in which the recent Municipal Conference at Christchurch was conducted. Mr. Moffatt said he and the Town Clerk, the Nelson Council's delegates, were so dissatisfied at the manner in which'the business was conducted that I they did not go for the motor drive which had been arranged. Just prior to the adjournment he had pointed out to the conference the importance of the business and had suggested that delegates forego the hospitality on that account, but he did not receive a hearing. , "It may have been that the president of the conference, the Mayor of Christchurch, was so . eager to demonstrate what Christchurch could do in the way of.', hospitality that t6 some extent he lost his grip on the proceedings,", concluded Mr. Moffatt.
