BIG SUPPLEMENTARY ROLL

Whether it is that Wellington people are this year more interested in the municipal elections or whether the canvassers working for the Citizens' Campaign Committee and the Labour Party have simply worn down lack of interest by energy and persistence, the fact is that the supplementary roll this year is larger than any supplementary roll compiled for a very long time. Usually the roll has contained five or six thousand names, but the 1935 supplementary roll lists about ten thousand names, with a good many more to be added as application forms come in at the last minute., The roll closes at 5 p.m. today. The main and supplementary lists together will contain perhaps 65,000 names, but, as has' been pointed out previously, the main roll is not by any means accurate, for there are possibly some thousands of names in it which should have been struck out long ago.
