Visiting Officers Entertained

A very enjoyable function in connection with the visit of the Australian Squadron was a five o'clock reception given on Saturday by Captain Cosmo Graham and the officers of H.M.S.Dioruede to enable their many Wellington friends to meet the officers of the visiting ships. A. large number accepted invitations. Captain Graham received the ship's guests on the quarter deck of the Diomede.

Among those present were the Prime Minister and Mrs G. W. Forbes and the Misses Forbes; the Rt. Hon. J.O.Coates and Mrs. Coates; Majoj-General Sir William^ Sinclair-Burgess; Sir James Grose, 'president''of-the" Wellington branch of the Navy League, and Miss Grose; Mr W.Penseler, Consul for Germany, and Mrs Penseler, M.Araand Nihotte, Consul for Belgium, and Mme. Nihotte, Mr and Mrs O. M. Turrell, Col, and Mrs Cunningham, Commander W. Olphert, R.N.R; and Mrs Olphert, and many others. The Australian officers present included Rear-Admiral W.T.R. Ford, Captain'H.T.C.Walker of H.M.A. S, Canberra; Captain gtuart BonhamCnrter of H.M.S.Sussex, Captain A.G. Lilley of H.M.S.Stuart, Lieut-Comman-der AlS.Rosenthal of H.M.S.Vendetta ancl Lieut-Commander G. S. Stewart, of H.M.S.Yoyager. Captain O.Bevir, of H.M.S.Leith, was also present.
