Mew York. March 22.- Mr. Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, in his first public utterance on German reaxnament, took his stand today on the'sanctity of treaties. It iras evident from his informal remarks at a Press conference that this would be stressed in any formal representation the United States might make to Berlin, and that the United States will not subordinate that thesis to emphasize other subjects such as German threats to build up her navy. It is to be presumed that no active consideration will be given to making a protest to Germany before the conferences of European diplomats. Mr. Hull, in setting forth this ▼lew, performed the double.purpose of informing foreign chancelleries and the public of the United States attitude and denying by implication a published report, that she had decided definitely to do nothing and, in effect, wash her hands of the Versailles Treaty. •
