H. V. MORTON'S SUCCESS

On the day of publication in England, 53,000 copies of H. V. Morton's "In the Steps of the Master" were sold to the trade, and within a lew days the orders were increased to 100,000. This is a book about Palestine in which the author is at his best. Mr. Morton was originally a newspaper reporter, and his first book consisted of a series of sketches of London scenes that he had written for a metropolitan paper without any thought of ever republishing them in book form (says the London literary correspondent of the "New ' York Times"). In the course of his journalistic assignments he was sent to report the excavations at the tomb of Tut-ankh-Amen. While abroad, he was not only seriously ill but suffered from acute nostalgia, and made a vow that, if he got home safely, he would go in search pf England, for he was ashamed to realise how little he knew, of his native land. Hence came the "Search" series which has won .for him such a multitude of warmly appreciative readers.-
