GITY LIBRARY
£60,000 LOAN
LOANS BOARD APPROVES
The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) stated at the meeting of the City Council yesterday afternoon that intimation had been received of the Loans Board's approval of a £60,000 loan for the erection of a new city library.
The proposal will now be placed before the ratepayers at the May poll. When the City Librarian (Mr. J. Norrie) returns from his tour through the assistance of the Carnegie Trust, he will no doubt report upon modern library lay-outs, and following that plans and facts giving an outline sufficient to.enable the ratepayers to vote upon the proposal will be prepared. If the proposal is accepted, complete plans and costs will, of course, be necessary for the Loans Board to approve of.
