RELIEF WORKERS
CONSTABLE STREET JOB
The secretary of the Labourers' Union (Mr. P. M. Butler) has received advice from the chairman of the Fire Board (Mr. N. W. Nelson) and the Director of Parks and Reserves (Mr. J. G. MacKenzie) that the dispute concerning the rates of wages paid to relief workers in excavating the hill at the back of the Constable Street Fire Station has now been settled, and the Fire Board has now made payment to the City Council. Relief workers who were working on the job can receive the difference between the standard rates of pay and relief wages by applying to the office of the City Treasurer. This matter arose in September last, and has just been settled.
