"I WAS FRAMED"
JOCKEY WINS APPEAL
An allegation that- he was "framed" when a battery was found in his possession was made by P. O'Loughlin, jockey, who successfully appealed against : his disqualification for life by tho stewards oi' Rockhampton Jockey Club (Queensland) on December' 26.
In his statement to the.Central Queensland Racing Association O'Longhlin denied all knowledge of the battery that was found in his portmanteau in the jockeys' room at Callaghan Park course.. He said he had placed the portmanteau in the locker and locked it, and, returning after riding in the race, found'the locker open with another key in it and the portmnnteau gone.
He complained to the caretaker and the portmanteau was found in-an adjoining locker. The stipendiary steward, on inspecting the portmanteau, found a battery inside.
"There is no evidence that I put the battery in the portmanteau," said O'Loughlin. "Instead of being the guilty party I have been 'framed' by some enemy who desires to see my licence cancelled."
The appeal was allowed and the ' disqualification removed.
