(From "The Post's" Representative.) LONDON, February 2.

The New Zealand Masonic Lodge in. London had as its special guest on Friday.■ of last week the Governor-1 General Designate of New Zealand, Rt. iW6r.! Bro. Viscount Galway, P.G.W., and' Deputy Provincial Grand Master , ■"fpr" Nottinghamshire. It was an occksiqn that will be long remembered by the lodge. A number of visitors from New Zealand were present,1 chiefly from Auckland, Wellington, and Chjristchurch. Bro. David Jones was among the number. . The Rt. Wor. Bro. was suitably welcomed by the master, Wor. Bro. H. T. B. Drew. Occasion was taken to pass a resolution: of congratulation to Rt. Wor. Bro. Colonel J. J. Esson on his installation as Grand Master of the New Zealand Grand Lodge. Sympathetic reference -was also made by Wor. Bro. Hal Williams to the valuable work in the lodge of the late Very Wor. Bro. Besley, P.S., Chaplain of England—the first master of the lodge. His death was greatly mourned and his loss would be very much felt. Deep regret at the death | of Bro. Captain Dick-Cleland was also i expressed by Wor. Bro. Williams, and the members stood in silence in memory of both brothers. Bro. Arthur E. Porritt was elected as the next master of the lodge. At the subsequent proceedings, in coupling the name of Rt. Wor. Bro. Viscount Galway with the Grand Lodge toast, the Worshipful Master gave an outline of the distinguished career of their guest in English Freemasonry. In addition to having been a Grand Warden, and a Deputy Provincial Grand Master, he had been a Deputy Master of the Household Brigade Lodge and as such had assisted at the installation of H.R.H. the Prince j of Wales. He had ' many other records in the Craft of whicht anyone might well be proud. As a soldier also he. had- won distinction. "You are going to a country we all greatly love," added Wor. Bro. Drew—"a beautiful country, on which adornment had been lavishly bestowed." It was a remarkable country also by reason of its civic, social, and industrial achievements in its comparatively brief period of existence. All this their guest would see. He and Lady Galway could be assured of a very hearty welcome there and a happy time. The toast was enthusiastically honoured. Rt. Wor. Bro. Viscount Galway made a very happy speech in reply, expressing his and Lady Galway's anticipation •of his period of office in New Zealand—a country of which he had heard so much. He recounted some' interesting experiences in Freemasonry, dwelling considerably, upon a visit he had paid to the East with the leaders of .English Freemasonry. He;warmly expressed the pleasure it had given him to attend this meeting and said he would convey -the greetings of the lodge to brethren in.; New Zealand. . Viscounl Galway had to leave early in'the evening, and before he went the gathering yrose and gave him hearty musical honours sung in Maori.
