The C. F. Oir Stakes at Wilhainstowi. on January 28 last was a bad raca for tha oig investors. Gaino Carringtop with a penalty, and Gall Mark, with a similai penalty, were favourites, but the best they could do was to finish third and fourth respectively in a head-and-head fight for the honours in which they were beaten home by Break Up and Ogwell The Melbourne writer "Cardigan" considers that the penalties rather than lack of condition defeated the favourites. That may be so, but Break Up was thereby assisted to avenge a defeat suffered by Puar Lap. Break Up belongs to H. R. RACING FIXTURES. Feb 13. 14—Egmont JC. Feb. 14. 16—Dunedln J.C.
