MORTGAGE MARKET
SOUTH ISLAND ACTIVITY
(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") , DUNEDIN, This Day. There is plenty of first mortgage moneyavailable i£ the security is right—and at cheap rates of. interest. This was the authoritative opinion, of a Dunedin business man. "The supply of mortgage moneys," he said, "exceeds the demand at, present so far as town properties are concerned." He! also stated that there had bee"n quite a lot of; small'building lately and there had been no -difficulty in obtaining first mortgages on, such buildings. The building :6ubsidy, he added, had made quite a noticeable difference, -working out at something' over £50 on the ordinary type of" home. So far as the country was concerned, if there were sufficient margins available, thensthe money was there;, but the tendency was to look for a fairly safe margin.
