' ■ KeP°r*l r n ß for the-period ended Febru-" ary 6, Macetown Developments,. Ltd., state _that- the -track to the Homeward Bound new find will be completed this week-when sinking will' be commenced. Homeward Bound.Low Level has now entered heavy ground, therefore the repairs will be. slower for the next 40ft; good work is being done. To the west ot Garibaldi mine and east of Maryborough mine some nice ore has been located; this proves that the Garibaldi line ol lode carries an extensive pay ore rone. The' new ore assays 13dwt per ton. west of the Maryborough mine on the same lode 6ft of quartz has been trenched; this assays 4dwt per ton; this is interesting because: in the early days some rich" quartz was: found in this vicinity; there is a good prospect of unearthing the source of, this, as it. was, not discovered, inetact of. intense'sampling and prompt assaying enables" a much closer search to be made. .-,-"■,.. WAIKAKAHO DEEP LEAD. At-a statutory meeting of shareholders !of Waikakaho Deep Lead, Ltd., held at Gore, Mr. W. D. McLeod reported that shares had been applied for very freely recently, and well over £7000 of subscribing shares had been taken up. Work of a preliminary nature in the 6urvey of tha pipe lines had been carried out, and no serious difficulty was anticipated •in completing the sinking of the existing shaft.. Jellyman (Rapawa), and E. J. Bourke (Blenheim). The southern directors propose a visit of inspection to the claim within the next fortnight. , CROMWELL FLAT. Contingent upon consent :6'f the Minister;.o£/Mines being given to certain options over prospecting licences on Cromwell Flat (states the Dunedin "Star"), it is the intention of a strong; company immediately to commence .boring, operations. Representations are,; now being made to the Minister in-Wellington, and'his decision is awaited. Lwith interest, for it has been frequently stated that the Cromwell Flat.will make an ideal dredging area, and i£ ■ boring proves the existence of good values the company, concerned holds options over sufficiently large an area to justify it building a large dredge capable of working to a depth of 150 ft. BEN LEDI. TheßenLedi mine manager reported under date February' 6 that. a succession of hot nor'-westers "during the preceding fortnight, following on a very dry period, had considerably affected the w,ater resources, the: v quantity.-coming down the race being to enable sluicing to be ■. carried oh to advantage. He had therefore temporarily ceased operations. Showers had threatened during the week, but so ; far had come to nothing. The absorption of water had been very heavy during the dry spell. He was ready to recommence'when the' weather broke, as it was unlikely that with the shorter days there .would be .a recurrence at this time of the year of -the. recent .conditions. A good face had been opened up, and he expected, that shortly after he recommenced 'he would be treating bottom wash.
