Sir William Hunt left for the south last evening. Dr. K.R. Cook, of Masterton, left for the south last evening. The Hon. J. Bitchener (Minister of Public Works) returned to' Wellington from the south this morning; Mr. T. Pargeter, inspector at the Health Department, Wanganui, has been appointed senior inspector at Christchurch, and will take up his newduties about the end of the month. Mr. W. A. Coradine, a Ceylon tea planter, who arrived in New Zealand by the Otranto, left for Milford Sound by the Wanganella last evening. Ha will be in New Zealand until April 1, when he sails for England. Mr. D. J. McGowah, vice-president of the Wellington Employers' Association, who is leaving shortly for England, was granted six months', leave of absence at a meeting of the association held yesterday. The good wishes of members of the association were conveyed t» Mr. McGowan by the president (Mr. H. Mainland). ' Sir Charles Orr, formerly secretary: to the Administration and Resident in! Northern Nigeria, Chief Secretary in Cyprus, and Colonial Secretary in Gibraltar, left for Picton yesterday after a brief visit to Wellington. The death occurred last night at his residence in Caroline Street, Wellington, of Mr. Albert Benjamin Card, am old railway servant. The late Mr. Card came to New Zealand sixty years ago in the ship Howard, and in 1887 joined the maintenance staff of the Railway Department, retiring on super-, animation in 1925. He leaves a widow, two daughters, Miss Jessie and Miss Florence Card, and two sons, Mr. A; B. Card, of ,Ngaio, and Mr. L. Card, of Tawa Flat. A presentation of a book of photographic views of New Zealand, pre» faced with an illuminated address and bound in blue morocco', was made to Dr. F. P. Keppel, president of the Carnegie Corporation, at the home of Mr. Norton Francis on Saturday evening. The illuminated work and lettering of the address was carried out by Professor J. Shelley, of Canterbury University College.
