The similax-ity in the outlook of the Catholic communities of Australia; and New .Zealand regarding the State's- attitude to religious; education was emphasised by his Grace Archbishop Sheehau, Coadjutor Archbishop of Sydney, who "arrived by the Wangauella last evening. Archbishop Sheehaii is making his fourth trip to. New Zealand, and has come to Wellington, to attend the Month's' Mind on. Wednesday for the late Archbishop 1W« wood.
The Catholics of Australia considered they, were suffering-.'under, a'grievance, and were not getting a fair deal;because-they were paying taxes lor the upkeep oE schools to which, in conscience bound, they; could not send their children, he said.- He pointed out that the. Born at Waterford, Ireland, in 1870, Arehbishop.vSheehan was educated at tlio Universities of; Oxford, Griefswald, and I Bonn, Germany, and holds the degrees oE Doctor of Divinity, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy. Ordained priest in 1895 he was made Professor of Classics at Maynooth two years later. He was professor of Greek exclusively from 190S ta 1922. From 1919 until- bis appointment to Sydney in 1922,' he was. vice-nresident o.E St. r Patrick's College, Maynootb. ■ : .
