FARMERS' FINANCE
UNION'S VIEW ;
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, February 10. The statement telegraphed from Wellington that the .Farmers' Union was 100 per v cent, behind Mr.. Coates's national mortgage. proposals was, referred to by Mr. W. j; Poison; M.P., Dominion president of the union. Mr. Poison said that the telegram clearly arose from some misunderstanding. The Farmers' Union had announced. itself 100 per cent. ■ behind any sound plan.of relief,^but had declared by unanimous resolution "that any such plan must provide lower interest rates than those . suggested : by Mr. Coatesi and that it must be. cooperatively or- State' controlled,- preferably the former. That attitude Mr. Poison had' himself emphatically communicated io Mr. Coates when the Minister met the national executive of the union on Thursday.
