Mr. Anthony Eden, Lord Privy Seal, ia a speech at tho Wavcrtrce by-elec-tion, defined the objects of tho National Government as: — 1. The maintenance of peace in, the world through tho support of the League and the strengthening of collective peace system. 2. The development of relations of frank and cordial friendship with the United States. 3. Close co-operation in policy and in commerce, as in -personal relations with our kinsfolk in the Dominions and colonies overseas. 4. A higher standard of life for the people at Home, more regular cmploy- ' ment, and shorter hours of work.
