MEDICAL STUDENTS
(To tht Editor.)
Bir.—As the subject of, limiting the number of medical students has again been raised, it may not be out, of place to point out that at the present time the number of students is strictly limited by the fact that scholarships will not take a boy through the medical course. Only those with money behind them caa take the course. The number can be limited by making the money barrier higher, that ia, by raising the fees or lengthening the course, and. in this way tho medical profession will be reserved more and more for the wealthy If we are to secure more efficient medical men a better way would be to provide more scholarships to take boys with ability through the .course and to eliminate more students by examination, conduct, and character regulations. In this way the privileged unfit would be weeded out and the medical profession would be recruited from . those qualified bjr ability.—l am. etc., ■ PATIENT.
